The battle is done. The winner has been declared (yay, Caitlin!). but what of the other contest categories? What of the other prizes? Like this one...
This beautiful bag is handmade by Bridget. I happened to have scored one during our holiday party yankee swap. It has become my favorite bag and goes everywhere with me. Who will win her latest creation?
Welcome one and all to our first (annual?) Battle of the Soxes award ceremony.
Our first award goes to that speedy assassin that scored the first kill of the game. Amy, as you may remember, took out Patti under the cover of darkness. For her incredible skill, she earned tremendous bragging rights, our awe, and this book kindly donated by Lisa of One City Market:
Next up is the Most Creative Kill award. The judging was difficult as so many attacks went down with humor that delighted us all. But, two players in particular stood out - Sara with her Wizard of Oz theme, and Mindy's Attack of the Killer Tomato. Unable to decide between the two, we have declared it a tie!
Sara will be enjoying a skein of luxury alpaca from MO,
while Mindy stylishly sports this Lantern Moon bag:
Now for the Most Creative Embellishment award. The choice was clear. Who can forget Esta's beautiful em"BELL"ished socks? Now, thanks to Lisa at OCM, Esta can show off her own socks with these clear clogs.
Liz L. won the award for the Most Patriotic socks with her red, white, and blue Lorna's Laces. She'll be able to keep track of her next pair with these WIP tubes (also from OCM):
What about the Most Uncomfortable Socks? We had to go with Bridget's "middle toe" socks, knit by Sandy. While the socks are perfect -until the toe - that little mistake provided us with too much entertainment to be overlooked. As announced at the beginning of the game, the recipient of the socks get this award, a TKE bag. Congrats Bridget!
I mentioned very early on, that we might add a few categories as the game plays out. After hearing the story behind Carrie Lee's first pair of socks, we had to include the Most Heartfelt Socks. Carrie Lee, we hope that your friend is doing well, and we couldn't think of a more appropriate prize than a knitting bag that supports breast cancer research.
And then there are those players that cheered everyone else on. Terri's enthusiasm could be felt all the way from MO. As a special thanks, she'll be receiving a very special prize - 2 dishcloths knit by Scott, and a ladybug tape measurer from Lantern Moon.
In every game, there is someone who plays their heart (or hands out) striving to win, yet life (or the postal system) tugs victory from their grasp and they become the First Runner Up. For the Battle of the Soxes, it was Pam who came so close, yet so far from being declared the winner. In honor of all her efforts, we award her with a gift certificate for a hand massage, generously donated by Mara, a massage therapist and fellow player.
This brings us to THE WINNER. Caitlin, one day I hope we get to meet in person. Congratulations!!! As the champion of our game, you will be receiving the winning socks (currently under construction by me), as well a pair of Addi Lace needles (size and length of your choosing) to help you knit even faster (is that possible?) and a skein of Spunky Eclectic sock yarn.
Thank you everyone for playing, supporting, and making it a great time.
WAIT!!!!! What about the gorgeous bag from Bridget??? Who wins that? Ah, well, you may remember a little category called Wackiest Player. I don't think there can be any doubt that The Rogue Knitter wins that award. And for their efforts, they will receive Bridget's beautiful bag.
But... there's a catch. To claim their prize, they MUST reveal their identity. So Rogue, what's it gonna be? Your move.
